He taught geology at Dartmouth and Wesleyan before joining the U.S. Geological Survey, where he remained for 34 years, doing field work in many regions of the United States. He was a fellow of the Geological Society of America, which honored him with its Kirk Bryan Award in Geomorphology in 1966. A native of Albany, N.Y., he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Clark Moses, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Katharine Van Loan Moses, who survives, and the late Mr. Laurence R. Moses. He was retired from Qualex and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Delmar, N.Y.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Bradenton, Fla., include a son, Mr. Daniel Moses of the home; a sister, Mrs. Katharine Hubbard of Burlington; and a brother, Col. Laurence G. Moses of Whidbey Island, Wash.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Michael Shannon, Hospice chaplain. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery."1
