Fitzhugh Lee

     Appointed by Pres. Cleveland as Consul General to Cuba. Military Gov. of Havana after Spanish-American War. Was serving as the President of the Jamestown Exposition (of 1907) at the time of his death. His common name was "Fitz". Fitzhugh was born at "Clermont", Fairfax Co., Va., on 19 November 1835. He was the son of Sydney Smith Lee and Anna Maria Mason. Fitzhugh received a military promotion at Va. on 3 September 1863. He married Ellen Bernard Fowles at Alexandria, Va., on 19 April 1871. Fitzhugh was elected at Va. in November 1885. Fitzhugh received a military promotion on 5 May 1898. Fitzhugh died on 28 April 1905 at Washington, D.C., at age 69. He was buried after 28 April 1905 at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va..

Daniel Murray Lee

     "at sixteen years of age entered the Virginia Military Institute. While there, he was given an appointment to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., to enter June, 1861. In the mean time, Virginia having seceded, he left the V.M.I., in April, for Richmond with the corps cadets to drill troops at the Fair Grounds, was then sent to Manassas as drill master in Whitings Brigade. After that battle, he was commissioned as midshipman in C.S. Navy, and ordered to Norfolk, Va. Served in the navy until the naval brigade was captured at Sailor's Creek, when he escaped during the confusion and joined the cavalry and was assigned to his brother Fitzhugh's staff with the rank of Captain, where he served until the surrender at Appomattox."1 Daniel was born at Alexandria, Va., on 14 July 1843. He was the son of Sydney Smith Lee and Anna Maria Mason. He married Ann Eliza Ficklin on 14 October 1874. Daniel died on 17 December 1916 at Stafford Co., Va., at age 73. His body was interred after 17 December 1916 at Fredericksburg, Va., at Confederate Cemetery. Buried in the Ficklin Lot..

John Thomson Mason
b. 8 January 1787, d. 17 April 1850

     John was born at "Raspberry Plain", Loudoun Co., Va., on 8 January 1787. He was the son of Stevens Thomson Mason and Mary Elizabeth Armistead. He married Elizabeth Baker Moir at Williamsburg, Va., on 9 February 1809.1 John Thomson Mason was Andrew Jackson appointed Mason as Sec. of the Territory of Michigan between 1830 and 1831 at Michigan. He married Frances Magruder at Baltimore, Md., on 29 June 1845.2 John died on 17 April 1850 at Fremont House, Galveston, TX., at age 63.3
