Taylor Burke is probably best known for his constant companion, Runyon, his pet parrot. He and Runyon were well known throughout the Alexandria area. In 1991, the Associated Press ran a picture worldwide of Taylor Burke testifying before a Congressional Committee on Bank Regulations with Runyon’s successor perched on his shoulder. Alexandria and community banking are a little less lively with the loss of one of its favorite sons.
